Chapter Ten

I rub my thighs together, begging for friction. But it doesn’t ease the burgeoning ache. It intensifies it.

“When you wear shit like that, you turn into a motherfucking beacon,” Kai growls. “I thought you would’ve learned by now. Your outfits make me want to find the vixen hiding beneath.” His nose skims the column of my neck.

Tipping my head to the side, I let him.

He bites.

I hiss.

A hot tongue soothes away the sting. “She’s in there, waiting for me. It’s time she’s unleashed again.”

My fingers run through his hair, clamp down on the silky strands, and yank.

Kai grunts, rubbing his hard length against my stomach. A wicked smirk plays in the corner of his mouth. “That’s my girl.”

I writhe shamelessly against corded muscles, whimpering at the sensation of my pebbled nipples against his solid chest. “Kai,” I moan. “I need you.”

He grins. “That you fucking do.” His large hand cups my ass, kneading it with strong fingers.

I gasp, offering myself as a willing sacrifice to his deliberate ministrations.

“Who do you belong to?” Kai whispers across my parted mouth. He licks my top lip, and my eyelids flicker closed.

I want to answer. I want to scream a resounding, You, Kai! Isn’t it obvious? But wanting and doing are two different things. For all my self-talk about jumping off ledges and trusting this talented, passionate man, actioning my thoughts is something else entirely.

He palms my breasts. “Answer me.”

His rumbling command has my eyes darting open again.

Confidence, heat, and something else I can’t name flicker in his expression.

It’s a hypnotic combination that eases the anxiousness swirling my mind. My jumbled, frantic thoughts quiet, and in their place blooms a growing sense of certainty. It’s a confirmation of what’s always been despite being too blind to see it.

“You,” I murmur, shocked by the admission. “I belong to you, Kai.”

The declaration cuts through air like a meteor shooting across the night sky. And, similar to its wonder-filled illumination, a sense of hope forms. Maybe, just maybe, this can work.

“I’ve been waiting twelve months to hear you say that.” In one fluid movement, Kai picks me up. Shocked, I wrap my legs around his waist and circle my arms around his neck. He strides down the hallway, his tongue tracing the swell of my breasts.

Gripping his shoulders, I let him. “Kai.”

“Fuck. The sound of you moaning my name….” He teases his way along the column of my throat. When he reaches the sensitive spot behind my ear, his sharp teeth nip my skin.

I moan. Loudly.

“That’s right, babe. Make some noise for me.” A door is kicked open. I’m too lost in his mouth, lips, and tongue to care where it leads.

Without warning, I’m dropped onto a bed. Despite bracing myself, I bounce several times, fearful I’ll fall off the mattress. Kai doesn’t offer assistance. Instead, his eyes are locked firmly on my breasts, his expression ravenous.

When I finally manage to still, I take stock of where I am. Despite the darkness, I can see a window to my right.
